Monday, February 9, 2009

Well, 2009 is going to be a long year.

On January 19th we found out that my aunt (my dad's older sister) had breast cancer that had spread to her lungs and bones. On that day, she had in excess of 50 tumors in her lungs and they were filling with fluid. Since the cancer was so far progressed, she opted not to fight it with chemo-therapy or radiation. My dad left the next day with my sister Hilary to go and visit her and take care of some various things. They were there for a week. My mom went out Friday morning. My aunt passed away Saturday morning at 4:00 am. Her sister and her daughter were on each side of her, holding her hands as she died. My siblings and I will travel to Montrose this Thursday for her services. My heart in breaking for my dad. He has had an extremely hard 5 months. But, he is still the rock of our family and the perfect example for my brothers as to how a husband/father/brother/son should be.

My sister is healing beautifully. She is back to work and able to move around like normal.
